Plenty of attention for your child
At Kidz Ahoy, every child gets the attention they deserve. In our childcare, your child develops in a safe, loving and healthy environment. Our pedagogical staff takes the time to stimulate, guide and above all, let each child enjoy every day.
We provide everything your child needs: diapers, drinks, a healthy lunch, snacks and fresh fruit. Eating together, playing and sleeping peacefully are fixed parts of our day. In our pedagogical policy you can read how we give this care and attention.

Trained personnel
Quality is of paramount importance to us. That is why Kidz Ahoy Childcare in Lelystad works exclusively with SPW3/4 qualified (or higher educated) pedagogical staff.
Our crew also stays up-to-date: they regularly attend refresher courses in pedagogy, first aid and other relevant training. So you can rest assured that your child is in experienced and capable hands.
Five KDV groups
At Kidz Ahoy, we sail with five cozy groups, each tailored to its own age stage and developmental level:
- The Ketelbinkies & Deck Swabs - 0 to 2 years old
- The Sailors - 0 to 4 years old
- The Pirates & Captains - 2.5 to 4 years old
The time when a child “transitions” to the next group depends on age and we take parents into consideration. This way we ensure that each step fits your child’s development and pace.
New legislation IKK 2018
As of January 2018, the new IKK law is in effect. The new and/or adapted regulations have been implemented in all groups. You can read more about this in our pedagogical policy. The pedagogical staff will all be on ratio in the groups. For consecutive openings of 10 hours or more, a maximum of three hours per day may be deviated from the required BKR. For Kidz Ahoy, this will be:
In the morning
from 08:00 a.m. to 08:45 a.m.
In the afternoon
from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In the afternoon
from 5:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
However, the BSO has different opening hours. The times when the BKR requirement is deviated from are therefore also different. For the BSO applies;
- Vacation period the deviation is 08:00-8:30 and 12:30-14:30 and 17:00-17:30 there will not be according to e set BKR requirement on ratio leaders.
- Furthermore, the school weeks are half an hour outside ratio when picking up children from various schools.
During special days (school strike, vacations, days off), the pedagogical staff will be present all day, provided the BSO is open.
The Ketelbinkies
Those just coming on board join baby group The Ketelbinkies, our youngest group.As of March 2020, this group has opened, with a newd interior specially designed for the youngest among us. Babies from 2 to 18 to 24 months are cared for here according to what they need.
The Deck Swabs
Those just coming on board join baby group De Dekzwabbers. Babies from 2 to 18 to 24 months are cared for here exactly according to what they need. A minimum of one pedagogical staff member is present for every 3 children aged 0, with a maximum of nine children in the group. Small but nice, in other words.
The Sailors
The more experienced sea goblins grow into toddler group The Matroosjes. Children from 18 to 30 to 36 months find their place at sea here. One pedagogical staff member is present for every eight children, with a maximum of twelve children per group.
The Pirates and Captains
The truly intrepid rascals continue their adventure at Kidz Ahoy as Pirates and Captains. Here, children aged 30 to 48 months complete their sojourn at sea to get ready for kindergarten.
Quality control
Every year we are visited for quality control by GGD Flevoland. There is then a
public report released.
